Precision Inspection Station Equipment Introduction 2

1. Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)

            The Coordinate Measuring Machine, abbreviated as CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), is the most representative coordinate measuring instrument. In a CMM, a mechanical coordinate system is established using the measuring table as the reference plane. It collects the coordinate values of measurement points on the surface of the workpiece being inspected and projects them into the spatial coordinate system to construct a spatial model of the workpiece. With this spatial model, the CMM can calculate the required geometric parameters. Its measurement accuracy typically ranges between 1-5 μm.

            CMMs are widely applied in the field of measurement, from small precision hardware components to large-scale geometric measurements of entire machines or vehicles. Various types of coordinate measuring instruments are utilized.

            CMMs can be two-dimensional or three-dimensional, with the three-dimensional CMM being the most commonly used.

            The CMMs equipped in our company are primarily used for the precise technical measurement and inspection of linear dimensions and geometric tolerances of key core machined parts for various products. Through the measurement results, they evaluate and understand the process capability of high-precision machining equipment, ensuring that the machining dimensions of in-process products meet design requirements.

           To ensure accurate and reliable measurement results, CMMs have strict environmental requirements. Temperature, humidity, and air cleanliness need to be strictly controlled. The power air supply must be clean with stable pressure. Additionally, the temperature of the workpiece during measurement must be consistent with the ambient measurement environment temperature.

2. Spectrometer (Spectrochemical Analyzer)

          The Spectrometer (Spectrochemical Analyzer) acquires information about a material's composition and structure by analyzing the spectrum produced through the interaction of light and matter. Its core principles are:

          1)Excitation and Radiation: After being excited by a light source (e.g., electric arc, laser), electrons within the atoms or molecules of the material transition from lower to higher energy levels. When they return to lower levels, they release light of specific wavelengths (i.e., characteristic spectra).

          2)Dispersion and Detection: The emitted light is decomposed into spectra of different wavelengths by a dispersion system (e.g., prism, grating), and the intensity of light at each wavelength is measured by a detector (e.g., photomultiplier tube).

          3)Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis: Different elements have characteristic spectra at different wavelengths, allowing element identification based on wavelength (qualitative analysis). The intensity of the spectrum correlates with element concentration, enabling calculation of content (quantitative analysis).

          Spectrometers are primarily used for material composition analysis. They are applied in the metallurgical industry: detecting the content of metallic elements (e.g., Fe, C, Mn, Si, Cr, Ti, Mo) and impurities (e.g., S, P) in steel alloys to ensure smelted steel conforms to grade and material requirements.
